Thank you for visiting us at the Santa Barbara Sports Car Club, Inc. Web Site!

The Santa Barbara Sports Car Club (SBSCC) is a group of people with a common interest: the automobile and automobile related activities. You can contact us by clicking on the "Contacts" button on your left.

We had our beginnings in 1970 when a few students at Santa Barbara City College decided to get together and form an On-Campus Club of those interested in sports cars and automotive sporting events. At that time the club was dubbed the Santa Barbara City College Sports Car Club (SBCCSCC) and began to participate as a unit in automotive events in Southern California such as Navigational Rallies and Slaloms (or Autocrosses).

Several years later we changed our name and dropped the "City College" (mainly because most of the active members had graduated). The club continues to this day under the name Santa Barbara Sports Car Club, Inc. Our organization is open to anyone with automotive interest, enthusiasm or curiosity. We welcome new members and are eager to introduce one and all to our particular brand of Automotive Fun and Excitement. Try it once and you'll be hooked. You would never dream that you can safely and legally have the fun in your car that Rallying and Autocrossing can provide!

Presently, in addition to social events, we present and participate in several Automobile Rallies during the year, most notable of which is our November Monte Carlo Rallye, typically mid-month and 4 - 6 hours in duration, and the Premier Monte Carlo Map-Type Rallye in the Nation: Starlite, which runs each December from Santa Barbara, California, to Las Vegas, Nevada. Starlite is the longest running event of it's kind (since 1971) and draws participants from all over the United States and abroad. While today participation in Starlite is limited to a maximum of 110 cars, past years have seen fields as high as 158 cars negotiating the mountain and desert roads of California and Nevada for sheer automotive enjoyment, excitement and camaraderie.

In addition, for the past two years Chevrolet has contracted with the Santa Barbara Sports Car Club to present a private rallye for journalists who piloted the "featured" car that year. In 1996 it was for the introduction of the Camaro R/S, and this past summer we had the privledge of hosting a 11-hour Monte Carlo modeled after Starlite to San Francisco for the 1998 Corvette! Take a look at some of these cars in the Chevrolet area of our site, it was a sight to behold!

Peruse our site, let us know what you think, what you would like to see. In any event, enjoy what we have presented here, and keep in mind that we are just beginning to build this site. We have been collecting photo's, information, rallies and memorabilia for 27 years, there is MUCH more to come . . .

Come back often!
